HELP Please!!! :o

One of my physicians did two "mole" removals, both needed a layered closure. I know I need to bill 11402 and 12031. Should I use a wound code for the diagnosis on the 12031? The pathology reported a benign neoplasm.

Thanks!!
Brandi

you use the code for benign neoplasm, if the documentation supports then I would use the V71.1 first and the benign code secondary
you will have two codes for the excisions if they were separate excisions using a 59 modifier on the smaller size and then add the lengths together for one repair code. You do not code a wound as this is a surgical wound not a traumatic one. you link the dx code(s) to all the procedures
