Hello,
I have a patient that had a previous left Lumpectomy and sentinel node biopsy with positive sentinel nodes... At the time of surgery the axillary area was unable to be fully dissected.
Because of the high grade tumor she had chemotherapy to manage the axillary tissue...
She ended up having an area of infection in the lumpectomy site from the chemo..this finally resolved and she competed her chemo
Now she needs a full axillary dissection.
Surgery was performed on 06/09/22 and chemo stopped on 10/07/22.
My question is , is this considered a full dissection and what modifiers are needed.
I am an outpatient surgery coder.
Thanks,
Carol
