Hello, I have a question from one of our pediatric urologist regarding low vs moderate risk in the MDM for a patient with an undescended testicle and plan is for exploration and orchiopexy. He's not asking about a specific patient and ours range anywhere in age from a couple of weeks old to 18. In his question he states that the procedure itself is usually low risk of complications; however not performing the procedure increases the risk of loss of function of the testis over time. I'm still fairly new to urology and still learning; however under the new guidelines it is not as straightforward as it was when we could use the global period.
Thank you
