I have questions re: AMA/LWOB/non emergent,referred to clinic.

(1) Pt seen in ED, goes thru triage, labs, xrays performed and the MD states non emergent, refer to clinic or followup with your PCP. MD does not see pt.

(2) Patient seen in ED, goes thru triage, etc. patient leaves without being seen by physician.

(3) Pt comes to ED for laceration repair, 7-10 days later returns for suture removal.

In either scenario, can the facility bill a level? If so, where can I find documentation to support? Where can I find info on ED coding?
Thanks
Vicki

Mostly

Vicki;
On the facility side there is significantly more leeway.

1 This is certainly billable. Depending on method of levellng either a 3 or 4

2 Some EDs bill as a 1 others don't bill.

3 Lac repair is billable plus level if documentation supports it.
