Help
new to urology billing. My doctor uses Lidocaine jelly 2% for most of her office procedures which includes foleys.
She wants to bill for the Lidocaine jelly I tried looking for the HCPCS code for it and cannot find it. I am thinking this is not separately reimbursable.
I would really appreciate your help.
Thank you

There most likely is not a HCPCS code for this, and so in order to bill it you would need to use an unlisted code. I expected most payers' reimbursement policies would consider it inclusive to the procedure and decline to pay for it, and even those that might pay for it will likely only reimburse a very minimal amount. Given the time and headaches involved in getting unlisted codes to pay and/or dealing with the denials, I would expect that it would cost your practice more in time and effort to bill this than you would likely receive in payments over the long tun.
