Patient presented to the ER because complaint of injury on the right knee was playing foot ball at school .Our physician x-rayed a patient's symptomatic knee(Rt knee pain) and ordered an x-ray of the other knee for comparative purposes. How should we report the diagnosis for comparison x-ray(Lt knee)?

Hello Venu,
It depends on what the payer policy states in regards to comparison x-rays. Some don't consider it medically necessary while others do. If they do then I would say code the left knee as you would the right. Code range 73560-73565. Hope this helps.
