Hello! Fortunately, I seldom have to code this situation....if a baby is born non viable and is resuscitated - do I code it as a single still born (Z37.1) or single live born (Z37.0) on the claim? Thanks for the help.
 
My understanding is if there were apgars above 0, regardless of mortality at mom's discharge, then it would be coded live born. Additional codes would be added to newborn's chart to reflect any resuscitation efforts and mortality.
