What would be the appropriate CPT code for tmj disc displacement without reduction for a closed locked jaw? They are unable to open following dental work done days prior.
I am confused between 21073 and 21048 as anesthesia was used.
My findings is 21073 is to relieve pain and restore movement and flexibility from disorders of the TMJ
21480 treats a dislocation of the temporomandibular joint, which causes the jaw to lock in an open position and causes significant pain and discomfort
I was able to correct the ICD-10-cm from M26.622 to D26.633 since there is a dislocation.
