I need some advice

I help out in my spare time , non paid as a 911 for coding and billing questions for a non profit rural clinic on Hawaii Island.

The Dr at this clinic had a PA as a locum while he was away ( he is the only MD ) . I know about the 60 day rule and modifier Q6.

Can a PA be a locum ? and can someone enlighten me on the Q5 modifier ?

I and the clinic would appreciate any help anyone can give us

Thank you Mahalo

Joyce,
it is my understanding that a Locum Tenens must be a licensed physician (ie: MD / DO).
A physician Assistance (PA) is a lower license that an MD / DO and therefore not eligible to be a Locum Tenens for the MD.
I would confirm this with your local MAC.
