We are developing a Surgical hospitalist program which means we have access to physicians outside of our practice to perform "on call" services randomly each and every month of the year. They would be paid by our group but NOT employed by our group. Our physicians would not necessarily be on vacation etc. they are being incorporated into the call schedule on a regular monthly basis. They are just available for "on call" services. What is the best way to bill for these services? Would locum or recriprocal rules apply or would they have to bill their own services as they have practice of their own in another city?

Billing Manager

Reciprocity The agreement between two governing bodies to accept the medical credentials of nurses or physicians licensed in either community. When my Doctor's cover for any other Doctor's they bill for their own services. Except for HMO's that are capped this is a contact agreement with the Doctor's and they workout the way they get paid as a covering Physician.

They have a mutual agreement to exchange privileges, dependence, or a relationships.
