I am always amazed how the locum privilege's changed. Medicare states you can use a locum for a Provider who has left the clinic. Other Insurances state only while a provider is temporarily gone from the clinic and will return. My question is more on when do the 60 days start for the locum? Is it when the other provider leaves or is it when we have a Locum who will cover for this Provider? We sometimes have a provider out on maternity leave but can not find a locum right than so they start later. I always thought it is when the locum starts not when the provider leaves who the locum will cover for.
