I have 5 years of facility medical coding with a CPC Certification. Every position I've taken so far has ended due to coding department changes.
  • First position I was laid off due to Covid and not called back because the coding department had other coders do the coding of the ones let go.
  • Second position the whole coding department was let go because they decided to go with a coding company and we were not given the option to be hired on with them.
  • The third and most recent position I was forced to be an independent contract worker with no vacation time, or benefits and I can't work like that. I wasn't told until a week just before and I was told not to tell anyone. It was myself and 3 others this was done to. I see a lot of coding position that are contract workers but that doesn't work out for me because I need health insurance and it it too much to find my own policy. I think my resume looks bad now because this is the third time I've been laid off with no option to return to work. My question is how can I overcome my job history. I have never been fired because of anything I did or didn't do. What would you do?
