If you are able to, you can volunteer at a billing company or a medical facility to get some hands-on experience. It does not have to be coding, start by billing or collections a few times a week. It is very difficult for a physician to put their trust and money in someone with no experience so you have to earn it. Maybe once they see your potential you have a chance of being hired within the very same company.
