Good Morning,

There is a debate in my office.

With no other information on the order, what would I code Straightening of the Cervical Lordosis??

737.20.............738.5 .............

The normal curvature of the cervical spine is often straightened or even reversed in muscle strain / sprain of the neck region. Straightening of the lordosis is when the spine does not have it's normal slight curvature
We can't code it as 737.20. May be 738.5

Hi, I see this is a very old post so hopefully someone will see this. Can anyone tell me what a good ICD-10-CM code would be for this, reversal of cervical lordosis? I have been doing other deforming dorsopathies, cervical region; but seeing this I'm wondering if it counts as a biomechanical lesion since it indeed disrupts the biomechanics of the spine. I'm just not sure if it counts as a lesion, or not. It seems like lesions involve loss or disruption of tissue in some way, but maybe the spine bending the other direction does count as disruption of tissue? If anyone sees this, thank you!

Hi Meg
I d use the dx M96.4 for reversal lordosis ,I d not use dx M99.81 biochemical lesions UNLESS documented by provider. There are other reasons for reversal lordosis.
I hope helped you
