I'm confused on therapy coding! OP hospital clinic visit, therapy dept. for lymphedema tx 3x week. s/p resection & radiation tx, history of breast ca.

Do I use V57.89 as a first-listed code or as an additional code with lymphedema as primary? Not very familiar with therapy coding! I see a lot of these, some with 'PT', lymphedema, on the order, others with 'Lymphedema protocol' on a therapy script...

Yes, when the reason for the encounter is to receive tx but not addressing the condition itself, we are guided to use a Vcode as first-listed dx.
