Anesthesiologist and CRNA performed the monitoring only, with no sedation given to the patient for a colonoscopy at the patient's request. Can they bill 00811?

Hi there, this is a little confusing. I would not expect an anesthesia team for MAC, and every payer I know of has fairly stringent medical necessity requirements for MAC performed for that procedure. Patient/surgeon request won't be enough.

Having said all of that, in general, you can report MAC even if there is no sedation, provided the anesthesia service meets all of the requirements. See the ASA's explanation here.
