I am looking for a code for a male patient with excess androgen. The office has provided a "female" code which caused the claim to reject. I cannot locate any "male" code in my code book or through 3M encoder. Has anyone ever come across this before?

What code are you being provided with? E28.1? Androgen means "male hormone" which is why "excess androgen" is a female-only code. Does the documentation state the diagnosis is "excess androgen"? Although there are various types of androgen, my assumption is that in all likelihood this is regarding a high level of testosterone, but you'd need to verify against the documentation about that.
