when pt has cancer on left breast and chooses to have double mastectomy how do we code the mastectomy of the healthy breast as I am having trouble getting that one paid.

It looks like there is a Z code for prophylactic removal of breast: Z40.01

I imagine that the insurance company will have guidelines regarding billing for something like this, so I would start there.
