I need some help. I have a patient that was not known to our office. She was in a fatal car accident and brought to the ER and pronounced deceased. Her estimated gestational age was 30 weeks. No history on the patient. A stat c-section was performed in the Emergency department to try to save the infant. (Infant heartbeat could not be found) . Infant was not able to be resuscitated by Neonatology and was also pronounced dead. I would assume C-section only for the CPT (59514). We are billing for the physicians services only, not the facility. I am having trouble with the ICD10 code for the maternal death- Nothing I have found seems to be appropriate. Thanks for any advice

The OP is asking about maternal death. The codes you directed her to are for fetal death. You may not use codes referring to the condition of the fetus for the condition of the mother.
