Hi. I have a question regarding maternity care. If the doctor sees the patient for antepartum care, delivers the baby and follows up with the mother while still in the hospital and schedules the postpartum visit, but the mother does not show for the postpartum visit, can you still bill 59400 or 59510, depending on the method of delivery? I would appreciate your input.

Thanks.

If the patient did not receive post partum care with another provider, you probably could. But should you? The ethical answer is no, bill for antepartum and delivery only. Only bill for services rendered.
