The provider performed an MBB at levels T12-L1, L1-L2. Per the coding guidelines T12-L1 should be coded as 64490... I know he's doing the injection for the lumbar nerves and I have coders saying it should be 64493-64494.

Please provide some clarification on this ongoing issue.

Hi there, the 2023 CPT manual version added a number of guidelines for facet blocks, including that the coding for the scenario you give is 64490 and 64494. Showing the coders that should settle the debate. :cool:

Hi, the guidance is in the CPT manual in the section for facet blocks. Just show them that.
