Please HELP!!!!

How do you bill Medicaid/Medicare when you have an MD overseeing a CRNA during a procedure?

These procedures keep getting denied. Some insurance companies feel we are billing them for the same procedure twice which is not the case.

The CRNA is doing the Anesthesia for the procedure but for the block, the MD oversees the CRNA.

HELP!!!!

Any info would be much appreciated:)
Thanks!

Hello,

You may also get more responses if you post this question to the anesthesia forum as well. In order to bill without being a "Dup Claim" you would need to express the anesthesia modifiers QK/QX QK= medical direction of 2,3,or 4 concurrent anesthesia procedures. QX= CRNA service with medical direction by an anesthesiologist.

I found this website to explain which each modifier means

Hope this helps

Julie
