I'm working with inpatient providers (doing their profee side) who are RVU based in their pay. I have only ever dealt with outpatient providers who are paid based on their payer reimbursement.

This may be an unanswerable question, would they be paid based on the WorkRVU or the totalRVU of their codes? I am trying to show them the loss in RVUs by deficient documentation and want to provide them the correct numbers.

thanks!

Most RVU based compensation plans are based on the work RVU only. They do not typically factor in the geographical component or the conversion factor either. Is there anyone in the hospital that can advise you on this for sure? Perhaps the person who does their payroll?
