do you measure the margins when you shave a skin lesion? or do you just measure the diameter?

As per coding guideline of shaving of epidermal or dermal lesion DIAMETER was considered and in case of removal of lesion diameter of lesion plus margins to be considered, pls check coding guidline under surgery/integumentary system.

Lesion diameter
For shaving of a lesion you measure only the diameter of the lesion itself.
For excision of a lesion you measure the diameter plus the most narrow margins required.
