After performing a TAH, physician states that the cecum is noted to have dropped over the right pelvic brim. Appendix is dangling in site of hysterectomy, therefore, in order to prevent confusion with future differential diagnosis ,if the appendix became adherant at the hyterectomy site, a decision is made to perform a nonincidental appendectomy.
Physician states that there is medical necessity to bill the non-incidental appendectomy. Does anyone see the medical necessity to bill the appendectomy, and if so what dx would you use?
