if a patient comes in to have stitches removed by the medical assistant can I bill for that? If so what is the recommendation code i use?

If your provider put them in and it is a non global service (i.e. laceration repair) and is on site at the time of the removal it is a 99211. If your provider did not put the sutures in then the patient must be evaluated first by a provider in your practice before you can charge to remove them, then it will depend on whether the service is global or not as to how you bill. Non global it could be a 99211 a global surgery would be the surgical code with the 55 modifier.
But you cannot bill incident -to service when the original provider is not employed in your practice, until your provider sees and evaluates the patient and writes the plan of care for the sutures to be removed.
