I work in an Ambulatory surgery center. Sometimes we have patients who cancel in pre-op.....not ever making it to the OR. Are we able to charge for anything regarding the cancelled pt.? The I.V. is started....etc....but they don't make it to the OR. I am not finding any information out there that is helpful with this topic.

When I worked in the Hospital, we were allowed to charge the cancelled procedure & add a modifier on the cpt code. Does this apply also in an Ambulatory Surgery setting as well?
