Our bariatric team is trying to code the medical Nutrition Therapy Codes for diet counseling for our bariatric patients. We are telling them this is wrong, but they are insisting. Any input on the right wording to give them. Thank you.
 
Can you be more specific? When you say team do you mean an RD? Is this group counseling prior to WLS? Or is this pre-op/post-op counseling?
 
The "team" is actually the Doctor and Office Manager. This is pre and post op counseling by the Doctor regarding diet. They are in the process of getting the Dietician credentialed so charges can be billed out for them using the same codes.
