is there a cpt code that is used to review old medical rec? My physician request medical records on new patients and she spend alot of time reviewing these records before their next appointment and she feels she should get paid for doing this because of her time.

Can anyone help with this
thanks

I agree. As far as I know this is included in the E&M. I work for a family practice physician, and yes, as much as she would love to get a little more for this, it is part of the service.

We do charge for sending out medical records when it's not medical, but to review records received...no extra charge.
