Hi,

I have a question regarding the Medicare 3 day payment rule. I am trying to find out if home visits fall under this rule or not. These are visits provided in the patients home after they've been discharged from the hospital. The provider of service is an NP who works for the hospital.

Any help is appreciated.

Doesn't the 3-day rule apply to the three days BEFORE admission, not after? Not seeing anything about the three days after.

The issue I see more with post-discharge home care is the discharge disposition code, i.e. using 01 for home instead of home care.
