Our practice has started to use skin substitute grafts following local wide excision. Our Physicians have heard that Medicare is starting to look more closely at the use of these and doing audits than taking money back. Has any one had any experience with this or seen any article relating to this. Thanks everyone.
 
So after reviewing the above link, am I correct in stating that they will only pay for skin substitute graft (15271-15278) for patients with diabetes mellitus with foot ulcer?? Our surgeons perform this on wound care patients quite often for burn care, frost bite, etc. Please tell me I am misinterpreting this!!
