Hi, I was wondering if anyone is experiencing problems with Medicare denying cataract payments for surgeries performed in 2013? I am getting a denial on several claims from Cahaba Medicare stating "this provider type/ provider specialty may not bill this type of service". We are an ophthalmic ambulatory surgery center and have been billing cataract sugeries for several years. I did check the taxonomy code associated with our NPI and it is correct. Is anyone else having this issue and what are you doing to resolve it? I am not getting anywhere with Cahaba. Thanks!
 
Our ASC has billed out about a dozen 66984 surgeries in 2013 to Noridian Medicare without a hitch. We didn't change anything in our enrollment between 2012 and 2013, either.
