Hello everyone,

I am looking to hear from other who code for OB/GYN in the outpatient setting. The hospital I code for, does not count absent organs such as: absent uterus, cervix, and ovaries as one of the 7 out of 11 required body parts and organs needed to qualify for a Medicare G0101. How are others doing this? Our providers are arguing that the patient should not automatically be disqualified from this code selection due to a hysterectomy etc. I have not been able to find any information in text saying that we should or should not be counting "absent" organs as one of the elements in the G0101. Do you count this at your facility?
Does anyone have any written information on this?

Thank you!

Ann Lilly, CPC

You can count them if the documentation notates them, eg " ovaries - absent" or something to that effect.
