Can we bill Medicare for the 22 modifier, asking for more money since they are government funded?

Medicare accepts modifier 22 but they will want to see the OP report or other documentation

One of the providers in the group I work for appends mod 22 on occasion. He will have a section in his op note that specifically addresses his reasons for using this modifier.
I send redeterminations/appeals on every one of these. Sometimes the payer will warrant additional allowable, sometimes not. I exhaust all my options with the payer & track each of these patients on a spreadsheet to make sure follow up is done timely.
When the payer decision is favorable, it is worth it!
