I have an instance where we had two medicare claims for the same patient. Two different E/M visits, same day but one was for an auto accident the other not. These two claims where billed on different claims but because the claims were for the same cpt code, date and doctor one was declined as a duplicate. Now at our office we are faced with either figuring out how to get medicare to pay for the second visit or write it off. Now I was wondering if we should rebill for the one that was denied as a duplicate using a modifier 25? Also from my understanding the diagnosis for the two claims were different also. Any help would be great. :)
