We are a large multi specialty physician group and we are having trouble with our NPP's billing new patient visits between the specialties. CMS has an article stating that physician and NPP's can bill NP visits within different specialties, but we have tried everything. Two level of appeals have been sent with no luck. The have upheld their NP denial stating that patient has been seen within the group (same tax ID) in the last 3 years, even though it's different specialties. Has anyone had any luck getting these denials overturned? Also, we have spoken to provider enrollment with Medicare and there is not an option to specialize an NPP.
