How do you handle it when a patient makes an appointment for their "free" physical only to find out that in order to receive this benefit the service provided is actually establishing a screening schedule and different from a "normal" physical exam? It seems to me the problem and solution lies in the first call from a patient to schedule this benefit. The front desk people have to be taught what this service entails as well as informing the patient to bring all med records with him/her.
 
I completely agree. The training needs to begin with scheduling. We are implementing scripts so there are specific questions asked/answered at the time the patient calls to schedule.
Even then, the MA's and the providers need to be reminded of what is/isnt involved....
