Opinions needed: How often do most of you check eligibility on Medicare patients?

Every visit usually. Our office checks eligibility day before appointment and also when the appointment is scheduled (work at a surgery center). Anything can change. BUT, when I worked at a Physical Therapy office, they didn't check eligibility every visit because the patient would come in 2-3 times a week. It just depends on what works for your office.

We verify benefits at the beginning of the year for Medicare, Supplements and Advantage (Replacement) plans. After that we ask at each visit if there have been any changes in insurance. It's rare that we miss a change and have a problem with a claim. Maybe one or two patients a year.

Does this help? I work for a chiropractor/single provider office.
