Hello,
I work for Early intervention and Neurodevelopment center. We are the only agency that bill for Mental health therapy for birth to three in our county (and as of today I cannot find another agency that provides this service in our state). Our client base has high levels of Foster children and/or high risk families -poverty, domestic violence etc). Our providers attend meeting called FTDM (Family Team Decision Meetings). These meetings include CPS workers, social workers, our mental health providers, bio parents and foster family. Child is not present. We currently have no way to bill for this because our therapist cannot code E/M codes for consult. The therapists do provide therapy to the foster and bio families on how to proceed with care for the patient. Are we allowed to code a 90846 (psychotherapy without child present.) since families are benefitting from the therapists expertise? Thanks for any ideas.
Debbie
