Our LCSW was seeing a new patient, an emergency came up and he had to cut the session short. The patient came back in another day to finish the session. How should the 1st and 2nd visit be coded?
 
Depending on the timing of the the first session they should be separate encounters. Was the first session the actual first session? Intakes usually take about an hour with code 90801. I would need more information to help answer this question. Sorry. I would say code them separatly since the client was seen on two different days.
