Wiki Mental health Therapy same day as seeing a nurse practitioner for medication

Hello,
If I want to bill for a mental health therapy session and the patient sees the nurse practitioner the same day ( for medication such as an anti depressant) , do I just add a modifier 25 or 59 to the counseling session? Are there any specific diagnosis that I should be using? Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thank you in advance!

You're billing for two different providers, right? Bill the therapy under the therapy provider, and the E&M under the NP. A modifier is used only with the same provider. If the NP is doing both, look in CPT under psychotherapy codes. There are codes to be used when therapy and medical visits are on the same day by the same provider.
