Does any one have any knowledge on methadone dispensing. It is being dispensed by an LVN under the supervision of a MD. What procedure code is appropriate.

Can you give more details? What setting is this in? If they are just getting the medication dispensed to them and nothing else, I do not think it is billable.

Methadone

We are a state licensed outpatient treatment facility in Texas.
Veterans Administration is requesting we become a vendor to them. We would be performing the initial evaluation and the dispensing, monitoring and followup for methadone.

if at that appt your provider prescribes the methadone, then he would most likely use 90862 for follow up visits, assuming he keeps monitoring patient. You can't bill for the physical giving of the drug (assuming it's oral).
