We're starting to do more outpatient placements of midline catheters at our hospital for patients sent over from local nursing homes. My understanding is that if there is no intent to place a PICC, you can't use 36569 (w/modifier 74) for a facility code, but would have to use 36000 instead because the tip of the catheter is not in a central vein. Any comments?
