I recently started working for a CTS surgeon and he has told me he wants me to bill a mod-22 for a patient. I am billing 5 codes. Any idea how the -22 works? I know I will have to submit op notes but do I just append it to the code that was the difficlut involved surgery?
Thanks for your help in advance

Use -22 on code with the extra work

You would append the -22 modifier on the code where the extra work was required. This has to be clearly documented in the operative note.

Hope that helps
