Is a wound debridement (97597) with a mod 58 billable when done in a hospital wound center when the pt is in a global period for a transmetatarsal amputation of the same foot?
 
A debridement is billable, but the difference is whether it is a planned debridement or not. If they planned it out before surgery 58 works. However, if they present to the ER with an infection the 79 modifier would appropriate
