Can I put a modifier 22 on a code if the patient is in a post op period?
 
sorry, I am not very clear on situation but at the same time it looks so staightforward.
I am not an expert. To me, if pt is in global period and another procedure is done by the same specialty with extensive work (that is documented), then I would use mod 22 along with mod 58, 79, 78.
 
Can you elaborate on your question more? The patient is in a post op period but has to be taken back to surgery for some reason and you want to append a modifier 22 on that cpt?
