When using modifier 50 on cpt code do you double the code when charging? Example 69436-50.

You don't double the fee, if that is what you are asking or bill x 2. By appending the modifier 50 to the CPT code x 1 unit, you are instructing the computer to reimburse the base code at 150%, which is the same as reducing the 2nd CPT code by 50%.

modifier 50 question

I am confused when using this modifier. When I attach the modifier 50 to a cpt code does that mean I double the charge when I post charges? I've had several different opinions and still feel confused. Example: 69436-50. Please help
