Hello,

I have a question. A provider attempts to insert an IUD. At some point, the patient can no longer tolerate the insertion due to pain and the provider stops the insertion.
The procedure is NOT completed in full. My question is do I add modifier 52 or 53 to 58300?

I am 99% certain that it's a modifier 53 due to unpredicted circumstances (pain, high blood pressure, excessive bleeding, etc- pt's condition that prevented MD to complete the procedure). Mod 52 is for planned to do a partial procedure.
