Have a Dr that works at trauma hospital and wants us to put 52 mod on his claims because he wont be the one doing the follow up on these patients due to the fact that he is only performing the surgery on an emergency basis. Can anyone help me explain to him why this mod is not applicable.
 
It would appear the the -54 modifier is more appropriate. Show him the modifier description in Appendix A of the the CPT book.
