is modifer 57 only added to major surgery or can it be added to an EM visit with decision to do laceration repair, fracture care, cerumen removal, etc.?
 
Modifier 57 is added to E/M only on the day of or the day before a 90 day global surgery. 57 is not added to procedures. 25 modifier would be the modifier to use on the E/M (if appropriate) for 10 day global procedures same day.

thanks for the prompt answer to my question. I was asking because in the Healthcare Business Monthly for November 2019 there is a table for global and non-global fracture care and the 57 modifier is added to the E/M and so I thought I was adding a wrong modifier.
